OZx Releases 2.2 Upgrade !!
Posted by JayKae on Thursday, April 30 @ 02:01:05 EST
OZx is proud to announce OZX 2.2, a further update to our Australian scenery project. Let AussieX take you further into your journey of discovery of our ancient land.
From the lush greens of eastern Australia with tiny aerodromes like Berendorff Road and Nobbies; through the fiery red outback with airfields that service the many remote communities such as Harts Range, Hermannsburg and Ampilatwatja. Adventure into strips that are seldom used except by the likes of the Australian Royal Flying Doctor Services" iconic Kingairs and PC12s - remote strips like Tilmouth Well.
Then continue your sojourn over the gold of the great western wheatbelts with wheat silos now dotting the landscape from Esperance to Perth. Fly into the beautiful south western pastoral country around Margaret River where you can enjoy some of the great wines and cheeses produced in this amazing area. Then let your wings soar over the azure blue of the Indian Ocean and the great North West Shelf searching for Legendre, Griffin Venture or some of the other huge oil rigs that harvest this black gold from beneath the ocean floor.
You will find the Australian landscape coming to life beneath you with mines like Broken Hill and Moura, huge salt plants and not forgetting the agricultural industries contribution with mighty wheat storage depots and terminals. You will find Kingfisher, Snapper, Cobia and many more lonely oil rigs toughing it out in Bass Straight; where the frigid winds of the antarctic scream their torturous way northward, searching for victims to flay with their icy, storm wracked tentacles as they blast the wind farms on the western coast of Tasmania with a freezing fury. Turn north again and you can fly at a more leisurely pace as you search for the numerous farm strips around the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney.
So join us with this update to one of the great FSX freeware projects. Travel again through this vast land and experience the beauty and remote majesty of our harsh continent of extremes. Come and join us as we celebrate a land downunder.

OZx has developed a Photoreal scenery for FSX SP2 created at a resolution of 2m/pixel (some interesting areas has been made at 1m/pixel, like Trona), with autogen and enhanced nightlights. Summer Season Only. There are some very nice lakes with animated water. You will see that this area presents so many interesting things to see, it’s not only the desert... there are fantastic farms and rural environments, very cute cities, industrial areas and the scenery changes a lot during the
day.... you will see fantastic colour nuances depending on the time you fly. It’s also beautiful in the night, we experimented with a new method to realize the nightlights, very realistic, that we will apply also to the future sceneries. The HolerMESH is included in the zipfile you download but has it"s own installer so you can use it if you desire but you do not have to if you do not desire to do so.
Download your manual by clicking here.

FS Elemental is an extraordinary and complete environment enhancement dedicated to Flight Simulator 2004. With simply one click, you can now revive your current Microsoft Flight Simulator environment. All textures were developed to work synergistically WITH each other, with the implementation of newer technology and techniques. Hi there- Just thought I"d let you know that my Whakatane Airport has been released
Whakatane Airport (ICAO: NZWK) is a small airport serving the town of Whakatane in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. It consists of a Asphalt runway flanked with a parallel grass strip and a helipad. While not a particularly busy aerodrome, there are daily movements by Air New Zealand/Eagle Airways Beech 1900Ds, general aviation movements including agricultural aircraft, training flights from the flight school and scenic flights to White Island off the coast of the Bay of Plenty. Of particular interest is the main terminal, designed by Roger Walker in the modernist style. It has survived in its original form since its construction in the 1970’s and gives a cheerful welcome to visitors disembarking to discover the many natural and cultural attractions in the region.
This particular airport is of interest to me as I began my real world flying training there originally with Scott Air and later with Air Discovery (www.airdiscovery.co.nz) As well as flight training, they also fly scenic tours of White Island and Mount Tarawera.
This Scenery Features: Fully custom made buildings including night lighting and window reflections, High resolution 10cm imagery for the airport including night map, extensive trees and grass and fencing.
It can be downloaded from Avsim.com: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=132078

The sister airport to Orbx"s YWVA Warnervale, YPEC Aeropelican is made by the same team of Andreas Hegi and John Venema and perfectly times the re-opening of YPEC in June 2009. This is a large photoreal scenery area, covering well over 100 km in high resolution licensed 60cm, 30cm and 15cm imagery with the precision modelling you"ve come to expect from Andreas and includes a major power station, the now disused YCOB airfield, a major stretch of beautiful coastline, Milano"s marina and restaurant and many more "little" details which Andreas and Orbx are famous for. You will love YPEC!
Here is what you get with the scenery:
- Accurate YPEC airport modeled including 3D interiors inside the hangars
- Over 100 square kilometers of photoreal textures sourced from 15cm and 60cm license source imagery and hand-finished to colour match FTX
- Revised roads and traffic matched perfectly to the photoreal
- Thousands of hand-placed houses and buildings to match the photoreal
- Over 100,000 hand-placed trees and vegetation
- Milanos Restuarant and Nora Head Lighthouse modeled
- Many custom buildings modeled and placed in the surrounding towns
- A complete inclusion of the Eraring Power Station across the lake
- Custom AI traffic with GA aircraft doing TNG"s and circuits between YWVA Warnervale and YPEC
- Some of the most beautiful shallow-water textures ever seen in FSX, and perfect for floatplane enjoyment
- Full seasonal support in all photoreal areas with immersive custom night lighting
- Increased AI boating traffic
- YCOB (disused) airfield near Eraring Power Station
YPEC Aeropelican is now available from http://fullterrain.com/buynow.html

SkySim Releases the Dassault Mirage III for FSX, Undoubtably the most successful aircraft produced by the French aviation industry, the Dassault Mirage III entered service with the French air force in 1960. It has also been sold to, or been produced under license by more than 20 countries and it has seen combat from the Middle East to southern Africa and South America.
It was the principal fighter of the Israeli Air Force for many years, Israel enevtually developing their own version,, the IAI Dagger which was used by Argentina in the Falklands war. Argentina also used Mirage III interceptors during that campaign, but kept these for the defence of mainland. The Mirage III is seen by some as the Western worlds version of the Mig-21. Orbx Releases AU Red and in the freeware series Port Lincoln all in One Day !
Posted by JayKae on Wednesday, January 07 @ 05:29:04 EST
Orbx is proud to finally complete the FTX series for Australia, with its final AU RED region. If you"ve ever flown from one of the eastern Australian cities and overland to Asia, from your window seat you may have thought that you were on a mission over Mars. The outback is a vast, red place and certainly the least boring of all the places to visit in Australia. With a sometimes alien landscape and stunning vistas, there is so much to find in this massive inland region. Huge craggy mountain ranges, salt lakes, millions of miles of sand ridges and dunes and a rich pallette of colors that can change overnight during the wet season, the outback is what makes Australia one of the most diverse and unique places on earth. Visit Uluru, Alice Springs, Kings Canyon, the Olgas, and the Indian Ocean coast at Shark Bay. FTX AU RED includes all roads, traffic, vertical obstructions, major towns and cities, 55,000 windmills and pumps and even includes roo fences for hundreds of thousands of miles. FTX AU RED is now available from the FTX homepage , Port Lincoln is available from http://fullterrain.com/freeware.html

PMDG continues our lineage of fine airliner simulations with another popular heavy airliner, the PMDG MD-11! Born out of airline requirements for a "modern new DC-10" the MD-11 is a superb example of aircraft engineering from the era when modern computer processing power was beginning to bring truly new ideas, safety and capability to the cockpit of transport airplanes. Highly automated and employing innovative new approaches to the pilot/airplane interface, the MD-11 took the McDonnell Douglas widebody line into the future with fully automated flight modes, aircraft system status pages, failure consequence displays and clearly thought out pilot controls. One of the most advanced airplanes ever produced by Douglas, the MD-11 has been largely missing from desktop simulation... Until Now! For more information please visit the PMDG homepage.
