Digital Simulation Services Australia new product release. Due to increasing demand from the home enthusiast sector for flight simulation, DSSA in association with FlightSim Store are proud to present the first in a range of products for the home builder. DSSA & FlightSim Store are the first to bring you these fantastic products at realistic prices for the first time ever in Australia. The shell tooling has been reproduced from an actual aircraft and it has taken many hundreds of man hours and over quarter of a million dollars in development cost to bring this aircraft shell to the simulator market place. We have spent the time and money developing this aircraft shell so you don’t have to, so take advantage of this new product when thinking about your next simulator project. All shells are custom made to order. The Bell 206 III Jetranger Shell is now available Each simulator shell is carefully hand crafted to the highest standards, not only in terms of craftsmanship but also in materials. The fibreglass shell is composed of commercial grade fibreglass reinforcements and resins. The purpose of using commercial fibreglass is that its price is so much lower then than that of Aviation grade. It offers a very durable end result which gives strength in all areas. A wide range of standard colours are available to choose from and custom liveries can be catered for as well. Unlike the limited shells available for helicopters from overseas, the all Australian DSSA Bell 206B III Shell comes complete with the Flooring System, Avionics & Electronics Ducts, and Benched seat riser. Each Shell can be quickly attached to most forms of Motion systems with the least effort. DSSA is dedicated to looking after you and your budget and making components available for home builders. The Bell 206 III shells have windshields & chin windows that are rubber mounted which are supplied separately for your convenience and come in a range of standard tints being Bronze tint, Blue tint and clear which are the same colours as used by operation aircraft. All windshields and windows are carefully handcrafted from the highest grade of commercial Acrylic sheet materials. Each piece is carefully molded to shape and cut to the exact measurements required for each unit. These windshields & windows are made from the same tooling that produce parts for serviceable Bell helicopter aircraft. Mounting of the Shells is fast and easy with either a box mount system or skid sets available. Soon to be released will be Robinson R22, R44 & R66 helicopter shells and Piper aircraft shells, which will all be complemented with the availability of internal fittings & fixtures including those for the Bell 206 III Jetranger & Longranger in a range of different styles and colours. Aerosoft presents Leipzig Halle which swiftly became the most popular airport for testing FSX aircraft in our offices and I think it will become a popular destination for most simmers soon. AlphaSim Releases Kaman SH-2 Seasprite
Posted by JayKae on Thursday, August 28 @ 14:06:48 EST

AlphaSim has just released the Kaman SH-2 Seasprite. Both versions of Kaman"s utility helicopter (the F and G) feature in this extensive package for FSX (with optional FS2004 version). The 6 phenonomal texture sets (by esteemed FS artist "Pierre") show amazing attention to detail and are enhanced further by FSX"s bump mapping and self-shadowing features. There are custom bump and spec maps throughout the model. Lifelike crew figures wear colours appropriate to the aircraft and even have realistic helicopter-type helmets with radio umbilicals (crew are togglable). The models are compatible with the FSX shared cockpit feature. Both the New Zealand and Australian models carry a superbly-detailed M60 machine gun AGM-65 Mavericks and a FLIR turret. The virtual cockpit is a tour de force - it exceeds even the amazing H-60 and Ka-50 cockpits in terms of realism and usability - with no less than 154 individual animations (AlphaSim"s RealGauge tech is used extensively), all normal operating systems are represented in 3D switches, including realistically-animated windscreen wipers. There is an accurate basic simulation of both the TACNAV monitor and central unit. The v-c night lighting is superbly realised, even the panel and console description texts are individually self-illuminated. Cockpit self-shadowing is also available to FSX DX10 users. The soundset was supplied by TSS and is the best helicopter sounds package we"ve heard, perfectly rising and falling in pitch with user application of the collective, including start-up and shut-down sounds. The flight model was carefully tuned and provides a realistically agile flight envelope for this sprightly machine. A 60-page, colour illustrated user manual in .PDF format covers all aspects of the package. Source textures are included for repainters. We think the new AlphaSim Seasprite is the an ideal showcase for FSX and is also the pinnacle of its type, setting the quality and features benchmark for other FSX helicopters to follow. Please visit the AlphaSim homepage for more info.

SquawkBox 4 Released!
Posted by JayKae on Saturday, August 23 @ 00:47:27 EST

From the SquawkBox homepage : "... Better late than never, they always say.... The public beta of SquawkBox 4 is out and ready for your enjoyment. For those of you still on Flight Simulator 2002 or 2004, it will work just like SquawkBox 3. But for those of you that have moved on to Flight Simulator X, you can now fly online on the VATSIM network. Go get it!. I want to give a big thanks to Brian Gefrich who stepped in to finish off the final bits of version 4, since my life has been more or less completely taken over by my new job. Brian is a talented programmer who took on the hard bugs and got SquawkBox in a state that will allow many people to fly online for a long time to come. If you experience any problems with SquawkBox 4, post on the forum. There are lots of experienced users on there that will be able to help you out. And if you are able to find bugs in this beta release, you can play a part in making the software better for everyone. I hope you enjoy it, and I"ll see you in the skies!...
